If you're searching for drills that work on a wide variety of individual and team skills, while being flexible enough to accommodate your team size - look no further!
In this video, Brooke Eubanks presents her top 10 practice drills. Inside are game warm-up drills to help your team adjust to the field, plus dynamic and flexible practice drills that will address many of your team's needs.
Draws
Coach Eubanks takes her team through three highly competitive draw drills that work on many individual and team skills. Your players will learn to quickly adjust to changing situations off of the draw, on both offense and defense. Additionally, athletes will learn to play under intense pressure to either get the ball back, or to possess and finish. Eubanks shows how to get your players to better utilize the time left on the clock, as well as:
- Draws into a settled offense or a man-up offense.
- 30-Seconds Draws.
- A 3-team draw drill that puts intense pressure on the possession team and requires quality movement of the ball and players themselves.
Playing In-Tight
Learn to play below the 12m in a couple of high tempo competitive drills that emphasize good individual technique, efficient and effective team movement, and quality defensive awareness and communication. Coach Eubanks covers player formations to use for the number of attackers you have, how to practice man-down defense while recognizing where the immediate threat is, and how to teach attackers to be more effective in the 8m by dividing it in half.
Controlled Scrimmage
Next, you will see how Coach Eubanks sets up a "controlled scrimmage" in which she has her team work on three focus concepts in the context of game play. This is a full-field drill that has complete flexibility as to the concept worked on, and is run with conditions set for between the restraining lines, and below each restraining line. Players are required to stay within their area and play within the constraints of that individual small-sided game before transitioning the ball into the next area.
Coach Eubanks provides an excellent selection of team drills which you could immediately adopt as your team practice drill set. Her drills are highly competitive, flexible, and enjoyable for any team to perform!
